Shooting Star 3 Site Updates!
Posted by Drk-X on July 15th, 2008.

Capcom's Shooting Star Rockman 3 website finally updates, providing us more than just an art gallery. Of course, all of the information has already been revealed in CoroCoro 9 and last night's update, but at least the page gives us clear images.

The site has three main sections upon loading: The Wave Station, which gives information on the game and is divided into story, character, and "Henshin" (Transformation) sections, the Satellite Server, a flash section which currently lets you see stuff we already know about the Hunter VG, and the Information page, which lists important announcements such as the current Wave Masters 2008 Summer. The front page will also list each update made in a similar fashion to the Smash Dojo most us has have frequented often in the past year.

Here is Meteor G, the threat of this new game and the source of the Noisy Waves. Meteor G has already made its way through much of outer space, even past the FM Planet, resulting in the data of the FM Seijin from the past games being mixed into the waves it radiates. This also explains why some FM Seijin, such as Ox, are choosing to assist Earth in this upcoming battle.

Here is the new boss, Spade Magnets, who was originally the helpful Wizard known as "Magnets", belonging to someone referred to as Rocket (or he may have been a Wizard that specialized in maintaining rockets) before he was corrupted by Noise and transformed into a fiendish denpa being armed with swords.

Another thing worth mentioning is that, based on what is written on the character pages, the use of the term "Operator" for humans has returned to the series. Also, the process which War-Rock and Ox became Wizards is referred to as "System Format".

Let's hope for more updates to the site very soon!

Update: Noise Change
Posted by Drk-X on July 14th, 2008.

A small update has surfaced today. According to a photo taken by a Japanese blogger, the free booklet given out at WaveMasters 2008 Summer, which occurred during this year's World Hobby Fair, illustrate a feature that may answer questions people asked concerning one of the screencaps on the recent CoroCoro scans.

As mentioned in the report, and now confirmed by this image of Cygnus Noise, the power of a Noise Change form is determined by the Noise Level displayed on the top right of the battle screen. How the level changes is still not determined, though we can see that the higher the level, the more Rockman will change until he resembles the complete Noise Change form.

Also, note that the wire frame of a completely new Noise change form (light green) is shown in the image. Wonder what it could be?

The Rockman 9 Conspiracy
Posted by Nigoli on July 11th, 2008.

We're sorry for not posting information on Rockman 9 sooner. I really wanted to wait for Wave Masters 08' at the WHF to happen to get an Official Statement regarding which system/s it would be on to avoid any confusion. Since there's been a lot with Videos that have been recently coming out.

    What's Known?
  • 8-Bit Graphics, Music, and SE (RM1&2 Feet Landing, Rock Buster Shoot) like the Famicom (NES) Games for RM1~6
  • Will have Bolts all over the place to Purchase Items (Rockman 7 and Rockman & Forte)
  • Rush Coil available from the Start
  • Helmet can be Removed (Rockman Complete Works 4~6)
  • Galaxy Man, Plug Man, Hornet Man, Jewel Man, Magma Man, Concrete Man, Tornado Man, and Splash Woman [Designed by Inafune] are the confirmed Robot Masters to defeat in the game.
  • Dr. Wily has portrayed Dr. Light as the villain to the World as Light's Robots have gone haywire.
  • Confirmed for WiiWare first for 1000 ($10) Wii Points
  • Japanese Release Date is September
  • Downloadable Content is Confirmed
  • Rockman 1 (July) & 2 (August) announced for Virtual Console

Confusion?
At first it was going to be a WiiWare Game dated for a September Release in Japan. Capcom America's E3 Submission was supposed to be Multi-Platform, but they've announced that it was a mistake. A few days after that a Video on NicoVideo for a WiiWare Advertisement was posted. Then later on, a Video from IGN, showing the localized version of the game and at the end of the Video shows the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network Icons for 7/10 I was pretty much thinking it was an earlier on when the Video had been done originally before the Capcom Screwup of E3 Submission.

Capcom Japan's Website today for 7/11 updated the Rockman 9 Information Page just showing everything that has been new exceptthe XBLA & PSN information.

I'm assuming we'll have to wait and see what comes tomorrow during the WHF. There's definitely something going on and hopefully an Official Statement during Wave Masters 08' ~ Summer. Be sure to expect another News Post tomorrow.

First Look at CoroCoro 8
Posted by Drk-X on July 11th, 2008.

We don't have proper, high-quality scans yet, but COCOROG's blog offers some initial details at what's in store as well as some photos of the pages.

The threat in this game appears to be a large meteor headed on a crash collision with Earth, referred to as Meteor G.

A character referred to as Spade Magnets will appear in this game. He is described to be a a Wizard, originally meant to help people, but he has become corrupted by Noise radiating from Meteor G. Sounds like a first boss.

Transformations in this game are referred to as "Noise Changes" and are described as mutations that are allowed by attaining a certain level of Noise and are the result of Noisy Waves coming from Meteor G. Levels of noise will be indicated by a percentage on the top right of the battle screen. When the level of Noise decreases to a certain point, Rockman will automatically revert to lower level forms during battle. So far, there is a mention of Noise Changes based on a large amount of FM Seijin from the first game.

-Ox Noise is described as a fire-based form that will boast high attack power and use of the fire element.
-Libra Noise is described to make use of a fusion of fire and water and will also boast high defense properties.
-Cygnus Noise will grant high speed as well as wings, which will likely grant Float Shoes.
-Ophiuchus Noise uses the power of poison and snakes and is labeled as the strategic form.
-Gemini Noise a powerful form that makes use of electricity and probably boasts extra special abilities regarding Battle Cards, such as Side Select.

There are said to be more transformations, and next month's CoroCoro will supposedly reveal the ultimate transformation.

It is mentioned in the report that Subaru will have a new catchphrase when performing Denpa Henkan and becoming Rockman. He will now say "Trans Code! Shooting Star Rockman!".

Also, it seems that we have the return of the side camera that we all love and miss from the EXE series? It's not confirmed if the full range of movement for Rockman will return as well, but let's keep our fingers crossed.

Finally, the report mentions a change in appearance for the custom screen. Perhaps the custom screen selection will be a lot more complicated than merely selecting down a column. There is also a new Mega Card with an attack power of 100 that features War Rock cutting and tearing through enemies.

We'll have scans as soon as possible. Until then, enjoy the report! (Even though 90% of the "new" stuff was recycled from EXE4) Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any new information on Akatsuki Shidoh, Acid, or Laplace/Lapras/Lhaplus.

UnderSquare Updates

THE UNDERSQUARE TOURNAMENT: BETA - It's out!
Posted by Aiur on July 9th, 2008.

http://www.theundersquare.com/seasontourney/

Sign up next to the appropriate tournament. Then battle by going into the tournament member list. Click on the outcome of the battle, (You win, they win, stale) and wait for confirmation. After that, it's in your battle record.

Details on the backend and the rating formula itself can be found here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddd5v3hw_87gvstm2c4

The rating system in a nutshell works by comparing the rating between the opponents and calculating a statistical probability of a winning outcome for each. The person with a higher rating is statistically more likely to win. From that chance, the points to give out based on who wins is determined. Without going into the specific, the standard behavior is if a person with a higher rating wins, he/she will gain less rating points from the lower ranked person than if the lower ranked person won. This is to create a fair, competitive system that is fun.

----------

I plan to open this up to allow teams on the forums that already rank their games to let them use the tournament system. Please note you must send me a request. You will be responsible for maintaining that tournament. Administrative-level controls will be assigned to those maintaining the respective tournament, and will be expected to handle any issues/problems/disputes outside of the system's functionality itself.

Have fun!

New Addition: Bug Tracker
Posted by Aiur on June 25th, 2008.

Now, this may seem contradictory, with all the forum bugs running around-but to facilitate the process we have added a bug tracker. You can access it by clicking on "Bug Tracker" on the top bar.

Or here: http://www.theundersquare.com/forums/index...ocom=bugtracker

This will hopefully help organize the problems we have on the board to a manageable level. I recommend you resubmit all outstanding bug reports.

You may feel free to submit suggestions to the bug tracker. They may be flagged for future implementation.

Shoutbox Changes: Shorter Refreshes, Bigger Size!
Posted by Aiur on June 24th, 2008.

That's right folks. I went into the shoutbox code in PHP and dirty ol' javascript and made some changes.

  1. The shoutbox size has been increased, most substantially on the full shoutbox mode.
  2. The refresh time on the full shoutbox mode has been DECREASED down to 10 seconds.

Okay. We can't have the shoutbox pounding away at our server for updates too often because it'll hog all the resources, and looking at the shoutbox response stream...goddamn, the response is HUGE. As a result, the lower refresh time is apparently only on the full shoutbox mode. On all the boards and everywhere else, the refresh time is 25 seconds. But on the full shoutbox, it is 10 seconds. Nearly close enough for instant messaging speed. Sort of. We'll adjust these numbers are necessary.

Enjoy.

Contest! Hunt Down a Copy of Star Force 2!
Posted by H0tSh0tZ1627 on June 23rd, 2008.

For those wondering, no, I am not back in an administrative role. I'm merely a consultant for the site at this point, helping Drk and Ji whenever I can. Once school starts up again, I might go back into hiding. =P

Anyways, I thought I'd be generous enough to host a contest for the site. And the contest is... A SCAVENGER HUNT!! The rules are simple. I have five clues/riddles listed below. Every answer can be found ON THESE FORUMS. You'll have to go through topics and even individual posts that are up to 2 years old to find all the answers. And don't bother trying to search for them. Plus, I'll be giving more clues to the answer of each riddle throughout the contest. Those will be listed under their respective riddle.

When you list your answers, PUT THEM ALL IN ONE POST. I won't be piecing posts together for people.

This is no easy feat, I assure you, so I am making the prize well worthwhile: a version of Mega Man Star Force 2 of your choice!! Now here is the catch: the deadline to find all the answers is at 12AM EST on June 25th. That means tomorrow night. Without further delay, here are your clues:
  1. How many Pikachu's are on the green poster in Drk-X's room?
    • Say, cheese!!
  2. How many balloons can you find in the sky on a spring day in Missouri?
    • Enjoy the amazing scenery...
  3. What six robot masters would you find if you went looking for them in Colorado?
    • The robots could be found in a "comical town" located in "central Colorado."
  4. This member's signature depicts a mod KOing a spammer in a certain amount of hits. Name the member and the number of hits.
    • The members name is a hybrid of two Rockman series characters.
  5. What two companies, besides Capcom, does Inafune believe will fund a next-gen Rockman game?
    • WE NEED MO' MONEY!!
Start scavenging!!

UPDATE!! Due to the difficulty of this hunt, I've decided that you may do this in teams of two. The members of the first team to get all the correct answers will each receive their own free copy of Mega Man Star Force 2. You DO NOT have to be on a team, though, to try this contest. You can enter as an individual.

How sweeter can I make this?! =P
